Three research updates, published recently, suggest that drinking two to three cups of coffee a day has been tied to a 10% to 15% lower risk of getting heart disease, heart failure or a rhythm problem, or even early death due to any cause.

For all the studies, researchers used data from the UK Biobank. The first study assessed over 382,500 adults without any heart disease, with an average age of 57 years. Having two to three cups of any type of coffee a day reduced the risk of dying early or from heart disease.

The third study looked at people who already had arrhythmia or a type of cardiovascular disease. For those having cardiovascular disease, no level of coffee intake was associated with developing arrhythmia. Among those with arrhythmia, coffee intake, particularly one cup every day, was associated with a lower risk of premature death… (CNN, March 25, 2022)
